I must upload all the pictures I have taken during our trip to Mabul here before they rot in the picture folder.
But I can't chuck everything in this single post because I don't want this to end up too lengthy and boring. So, this will be a post on the first day of the trip. Sorry ya, you will see a lot of annoying travelling because to reach there requires a lot of travelling *phew*.
Hi!
I hope you're not bored by my Sabah series, yet.
I've been travelling to East Malaysia quite often in recent years because boyfriend is now stationed there for a work project. The down side with having a boyfriend who travels frequently for work is that, I can only see him once (for a few days) in a week, or worse, once in a few months. But the flip side is, I get to travel to places where he is stationed at. Like for example, I was in Taiwan for X'mas and New Year Eve in 2011-2012 because he was stationed there for work for 2 years. To add on to that, I do not have to worry about accommodations as I will be staying with him in his hostel or room throughout my visit. Each time when he is about to complete his project, I couldn't wait to know his next designated destination so that I can fly to him for a visit when he has settled down. It's like a Juke Box. You always get new surprises from that mysterious box.
Anyhow, my biggest wish is that we could spend more time together and never have to be apart for too long.
26th April, Friday
I rushed home to grab my luggage immediately after the clock ticked 6 so that I could catch my 9pm flight. I managed to arrived about an hour earlier but the flight has delayed by almost an hour! Feeling so hungry and grumpy and moody I bought a pack of my favourite Cottage Fries to alleviate my grievances.
They've never failed to cheer me up :)
It was almost 1am after I checked-out from Kota Kinabalu's airport. Baby was standing at the pick up point, smiling. It was so long since we last met. We pecked and exchanged a warm hug before we moved to get his car.
27th April, Saturday
It is crucial for you to remember my skin tone here.
You will see a HUGE different after all the suns and seas.
We departed from baby's place at dusk to catch our flight to Tawau.
The Kota Kinabalu International Airport is much better built than I expected.
I thought we will be flying in this propeller plane to Tawau since the short journey only takes 40 minutes.
But no, we traveled in a new plane equipped with in-flight TV.
We watched Gags to kill our sleepiness *yawn*!
A shutter van welcomed us at Tawau airport as we touched down.
The journey from Tawau airport yo Semporna Jetty was so long it took an hour. I was feeling sooo tired since the flight from KL the day before.
I have no idea since when scenery like this excites me.
If mother nature can talk and if she has hands, she'll probably beat the shit out of me.
Another approx. 30-40min boat transfer from Semporna to Mabul.
Not sure if registering our boat number here before we depart has anything to do with the war happened in Lahad Dato few months ago *shivers* or it was already a compulsory thing since 4576589574 years ago.
Along the way there were mini-sized island with really white sands and fishermen boats.
Sorry ah no pictures because picture quality was really bad :(
I.SMELLED.THE.ISLAND.WHEN.I.SAW.THIS!!!
As we approached the shore, we saw a lot of star fishes along the way.
Never in my life I have seen so many starfishes!
The first time I touched a starfish was during my time in kindergarten. Together with my classmate, we were brought to visit some science center and we got the opportunity to feel some sea creatures eg. starfish, sea cucumber etc. I couldn't remember how did they felt but by touching it now I recalled.
It feels like a dried paper clay shaped into a star but slightly rubber-ish. Just slightly.
Above the starfishes swim the boys from the village nearby.
I see a lot of them doing this, some are kids, some are women, placing what they've caught into the container they carry.
WOHOOO!!!
Here we are!
HELLO!
Welcome to Mabul island!!
This was where we stayed.
We were staying in the Resort as it was more economical compare to the Water Bungalow across the bridge. I will be showing you more pictures soon :)
Can you feel how soft the white sands are?
The lil kiosk sells drinks.
We went there for drinks on our 3rd night.
We were being briefed on our itinerary before we checked into our room.
Say hi to Mr Monkey!
The size of the room was cozy enough for the two of us.
The room would be perfect if the lighting can be brighter :(
It was a 5D4N trip where we were scheduled to snorkel in a few islands nearby. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and tea times were all included in our tour package.
We were given enough time to prepare ourselves to snorkel at our first destination, which is the nearest beach at the Water Bungalow.
It took us an approx. 15 minutes boat ride to be transferred to this place.
This place is a beauty ain't it?
It is the Water Bungalow adjacent to the Resort we were staying.
The rooms here were about twice larger than our chalet so you can imagine how much it will cost.

I can't compare the corals in West Malaysia to this because I haven't tried snorkeling in my life and that was the first time I witness it's beauty. It was fascinating! It felt like I have entered a world so beautiful and peaceful that if I have gills I wouldn't wanna live on land.
Blue friend of Gary the starfish!
I didn't take a lot of pictures here because my camera's battery ran off.
I will be showing you more exciting pictures from other islands in my upcoming posts.
Till then!
