Mamee Chef Day @ Malacca

I used to take at least one cup noodles per night back in my college days especially during exam time. I would stay up late to complete my studies and to combat the stress, I stored cup noodles in my kitchen in case I need any in the middle of the night. Now that I have grown into an adult I no longer have to take any exams but my irregular work hour didn’t allow me too much time to eat so I always have instant noodles prepared in my drawer.

There are many cup noodles of many different brands in big and small markets so to choose the right one always gives me headache. I know it sounded silly to get headache for choosing the right cup noodles, if you know me well you know I am very particular with what I eat so to me it’s either good food or no food at all. Hehe.

This girl friend of mine is an instant food fan because she’s staying alone in her condo so instant food is always in her meal list. One day we were talking about instant food that taste “not boring” and she mentioned this Mamee Chef Cup noodles. She said the little cup contain cabbage, mushrooms, taufu, prawns, carrot depending on which flavor you chose. It was quite interesting to learn that prawns can also be included in cup noodles so I’ve decided to give it a try. Since then, I no longer have to waste anymore time choosing the right cup noodles because I already know which to go for.

I’ll tell you why I love Mamee Chef so much.

  • I love the noodles springy.
  • And the REAL condiments contained.

They uses the La Mien technique to pull the noodles and this explains why Mamee Chef’s noodles aren’t like any other instant noodles you had. La Mien Sifu has demonstrated to us how Mamee Chef’s La Mien was made.

Because of this, Mamee Chef Curry Laksa is rated Top 10 Best Instant Noodles in the World for 2014 by www.theramenrater.com. Besides that, Mamee- Double Decker was presented the Putra Brand Awards Bronze Recipient 2014 under Food Stuff Category. Not only that, Mamee Double-Decker Sdn Bhd is also the proud recipient of Frost & Sullivan’s Home-Grown Packaged Food Company of the Year for 2 consecutive years.

After my visit to the factory of Mamee Double-Decker in Malacca I learned that their success is a result of their efforts in improving their products to answer the consumers’ need. A recent data research released by Kantar WorkPanel shows that out of 5.47 million total household, 4.2million household in Peninsular Malaysia has purchased Mamee Double-Decker instant noodles. So to cater to the huge amount of demands, Mamee Double-Decker has invested on a RM80 Million machinery to imitate the La Mien technique for better and springier noodle texture.

This machine and technology make the noodles go through the same pulling and folding process like La Mien Noodles. These noodles were made with real flour. The noodles making process started with mixing flours with water to make the dough. Just exactly like how good ban mee noodles were made!

To ensure that the flavours and taste is similar to what Malaysian always have at home, Mamee Double-Decker has collaborated with Dato’ Chef Ismail to co-create the paste for Mamee Chef’s Thai Tom Yum and Curry Laksa that are made with fresh ingredients of herbs and spices.

Here are condiments and recipes contained in each cup of Mamee Chef Instant Noodles. Different condiments were pre-packed for different flavours such as Prawns for Thai Tom Yum flavoured Mamee Chef Noodles, bite-sized tofu for Curry Laksa flavoured Mamee Chef Noodles, Shiitake mushrooms  and vegetables for Chicken flavoured Mamee Chef Noodles.

Other than witnessing how springy the noodles were made, I saw how my favourite childhood snack - Mamee snack was made too!

All the staffs wear gloves, cap and mask to ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of all the food made. Every piece of noodle snack was carefully handled by the staffs before they were being sent to packing.

We were treated to lunch with food from Mamee Jonker House before our visit to Mamee Jonker house located in Jonker Street.

The Chicken Rice Balls were really tasty and they were larger than those I usually had in Malacca. I love how well the chicken and Chicken Rice Balls go with the semame oil.

Mamee Jonker House

This Mamee Jonker House is located just a few shops away from the famous Jonker 88 Cendol shop. I saw many Mamee Monster merchandise selling in the store.

Here’s Mamee Monster and his baby!

Of everything displayed on the shelf, this caught my attention.

Now here’s an alternative too Jagabee!

Second floor of Mamee Jonker House is a section where you get to customize your own Mamee Chef Cup Noodles.

We were each give a cup printed with Mamee Monster and Mamee logo together with magic colour pens to scribble.

I proceeded to choose the condiments after completing my scribbles. Each person was allowed to choose 4 condiments. This was followed by sealing the cup and wrapping our creation with plastic wrapper.

I was wondering how much sales I can generate with this.

Everyone has their own way of scribbling the cup, who deserves the cutest Mamee Chef Cup Noodles Award?

There’s this room next to the room where we create our own cup noodles that allows visitors to make their own Mamee Snack. You get a hands on opportunity to make your very own pack of Mamee Chef snack, from making the dough to sealing them in plastic packaging!

Here’s one cute painting we all love in second floor. Look how hungry I and kyspeaks.com were and see how indifferent Fayth was LOL

Looking down from the second floor is Mamee Jonker House restaurant where our lunch was cooked. I love the Heritage building and the cleanliness of the place.

These are the two dishes you musn’t missed if you happen to visit Mamee Jonker House. The Laksa taste as good as the Laksa sold in Penang. The difference is, this doesn’t contain as much coconut laden. The Mee Goreng is by far the best I had. The noodles were really really springy and they didn’t break when I twirl them with my fork.

The noisiest people during the entire visit wtf
From left front Gaff, I and Fayth. Behind were Demond Kiu on the left and kyspeaks.com on the right.
