Hello!
I believe everyone's back to work today but I am still at home, blogging. Teehee!
Scrolling through my Facebook News Feed, appearing infront of my eyes were lots of interesting pictures of friends and relatives celebrating New Year's Eve in different ways and different places. I and my friend wanted a wonderful New Year's Eve too! We wanted to book a serviced apartment for a mini potluck party but all hotels in KL were fully booked!
I have done dinners and watched fireworks in the past couple of years so I wanted this year's eve to be a different one. Running out of idea, I remembered seeing Timothy Tiah's Dayre on how his Baby Boy puked on him on their way to their hometown in Penang.
That little guy inspired us to drive up north!
We departed from KL at about 2PM and reached Penang late at about 9PM thanks to the jam after Ipoh. By the time we arrived, our tummy were grounding angrily already! We wanted something to warm our stomach after a super long drive in air-conned room so we made the famous Spicy Girl Steamboat our first stop.
The neon signboard made Spicy Girl Steamboat restaurant an obvious landmark along Jalan Nagor.
The place was fully occupied. Good thing that the queue wasn't too long before our turn. To save time, we ordered our food before we were ushered to our table.
Chef of the day, Elene, preparing the minced pork paste into bite-sized.
We couldn't wait to feast on the food when the ingredients were cooked because we were very very hungry. I got choked by the Sze Chuan Soup based because it was rather spicy!
Beware of the chillie paste, the fresh Bird's Eyes Chillies made the condiment super spicy!
If you have been to Hai Di Lao 海底捞 in Singapore, I personally think Hai Di Lao provides better facilities services. They have everything prepared for hygienic purposes such as rubber band for the ladies if you need to have your hair gathered up, a small little plastic bag for each and everyone to place our handphone etc. Customers will be treated to drinks and snacks while waiting. Interesting part is, girls get to do manicure while waiting! FYI, the queue in Hai Di Lao is always crazieeee so by the time you are being attended your manicure is probably done.
Talk about the food and the soup, if I remember correctly, Hai Di Lao's soup tasted less bitter and spicier.
This is a must-ordered!
I thought it was any ordinary Liang Teh but the taste was surprisingly good! I could tell that it was genuinely made with over 10 types of Herbs as written on the bottle's description.
