Think Twice Before you Purchase from this Website. It is a Prominent Fashion Brand BTW.

It took me some time to ponder about pen-ning down what I have experienced, or not. First of all, I aim to have no negative content(s) on my blog. I didn't and don't enjoy public bitching. Especially to say something negative about my clients, regardless of how bad their service given. I will either not blog about the sponsorship I have received nor food I have gulped (Sorry ya you can call me a free-loader blogger or whatever you are happy with. But I am not going to give any credits to things I didn't like.) Or share the bad experience(s) I received from a particular client to my friends as well as people who wanted my opinion verbally.

Disclaimer:What you are going to read will be my personal experience shopping ONLINE with Dorothy Perkins. UK online shopping portal. I have not experienced any dissatisfaction shopping at their retail store located mainly in Malaysia thus far. However, don't jump into conclusion too soon. This case is a little subjective.

I thought I was the luckiest person when I received their email from UK asking for my review on their products. They have offered me a cash voucher to shop for anything in their online store. I was really really thrilled and I couldn't wait another second to visit their website store. So, I took some time to decide which one to pick because I knew that most of their clothes sizes are larger than those offered by other prominent fashion outlets eg. Topshop, Zara, Pull & Bear etc. I was really careful so that the clothes would fit me well and I could look good wearing their clothes in photographs.

I have chosen one top and one high-waisted jeggings. The total value of the clothes I picked have exceeded the value of the cash voucher offered by them. So, I topped up a few more ringgits for the purchase.

Comments on payment gateway: I assume it was because they are not a local shopping site so only credit card payment gateways are available.

Immediately the next day, I received an email from their company saying that my items have been despatched. It was stated in their website that goods will only arrived after 10 working days (unless you are willing to pay another hundred for a more speedy delivery). I was aware that they were shipping the items from oversea so it may took a little bit longer.

Days have past.
I mean, 10 days have past. No news.

It must be the time zone I thought. So, I gave it another few more days.

10 more days.

Silence...

Another 10 days. My friend, who is also a blogger, gotten the same offer as I did, has already received her items! Just so you know, my friend received their offer about 1-2 weeks later than I did. It took almost 3 weeks for the parcel to reach my friend. Contrary to what they have promised (10 working days *raised brows*).

Nevermind that. I wrote to them asking my parcel's whereabout.

Okay, they felt sorry that I have not received my items. Diplomatically. I suggested that they tell me which courier service they have engaged so that I could contact the company to ask for my parcel's whereabout, personally.

One thing I did not understand was, they refused to let me know which courier line they have engaged and after I have asked the same questions for a few times, they told me that the parcel has left the courier company according to plan.

Before I continue, I must emphasize that, I don't mind if they think it is unfair for them to bear the lost of the parcel since it wasn't their fault at the first place. But because they have given me an option to either claim the cash I paid for this transaction or to choose new items from their website without exceeding the cash voucher's value offered by them initially, I would expect receiving a decent service.

I waited for quite a while (I couldn't remember how long I have waited, I think few days to a week) before they finally replied me.

BUT. Prior to their reply. I did something really nasty, I think that was the nastiest thing I have ever done to anyone publicly. I left a comment on their FB Fanpage expressing how disappointed I was with their delivery services. What I was very upset about is that I do not understand why they refused to tell me which courier service they have engaged so that I can check with them on my side. I was not sure if they would feel proud about my comment or they would have it removed. Or they were simply indifferent. You may check it out here.

AMAZINGLY, my message has been totally ignored.

Well, I know I know IknowIknowIknowIknow. I am no theblondesalad nor chrisellelim.

Few days to a week later I received an email from them along with their apologies. They have offered me an option- they were happy to refund or send a replacement items to me, with the condition that I could only pick any items up to RM230 (as what they have originally offered).

They wished that I could take the latter option because they think ' It would really be amazing and might convince our client to offer you other projects in the future.'

Traumatized. I am not sure if I want anything from your client anymore.

And I don't know what makes them feel okay to ask this 'Also, just out of curiosity, would you be so kind to let me know the number of daily visits you get on your blog?'
Just so you know, they have not asked this when they first engaged me and now that the parcel has lost, they wanted to offer me a refund/to process my purchase internally as stated, they suddenly realized the need to check my blog's popularity?!

Imagine yourself as a consumer at a swanky restaurant. You were treated a bowl of soup by the host. And then you saw a fly in your soup. You were hoping that the host would do something. They were happy to do a refund/exchange but they asked "Just out of curiosity",  "Sir/mdm. Would you be so kind to let me know how much cash is there in your bank account? Or, do you own any properties?"


"Just any."

My legal knowledge has suddenly become useful. I knew pretty well that once a parcel has been sent, the sender will not be liable for the lost of the said parcel. Coming back to reality, I doubt if any customer would like to be told by the seller that "oh, poor thing your parcel lost. It is not our fault so we will not be taking up any responsibilities."


What's more amazing about them: "If you’d like us to process your order internally, could you please assure us that you would also share your post and pictures on your social channels?"

Honestly, I was happy to. I was.

But now, the responsibility has amazingly switched to me. It's like telling me:" Hello Jane, if you want us to process your order internally, make sure you blog ya. Who tells you to lost your parcel? Don't repeat the same mistake again :) "

Nevermind about that anymore. Exasperated. I replied saying that I am happy to proceed with the order internally. As promised, I was allowed to choose new items not exceeding the value of the cash voucher offered. Until I told them that I have actually topped up RM22 onto what they have previously offered so I wished they could increase the cash value to RM252. They replied :

"Contrary to what I told you the other day, the new parcel that will be sent out to you has to contain the exact same items that you ordered the first time. Like this, it will match exactly the amount of money you already paid to Dorothy Perkins on the site."

HELLO I have only added RM22. I don't mind about the RM22 but I am very disappointed with their service. Thank God I didn't top up RM220, or RM2,220 onto the the cash voucher given.

Moreover, the items I have originally picked is now on sales already!

I am very very cherry berry tired about this. Hence, I replied with my banking details and demanded for the money I have paid for this purchase. I wasn't sure if I would be getting the RM22 I've credited into their bank account but... SIGH

I am keeping my fingers crossed that this case can be closed by now. It has been freaking bothering me for more than a month!

You might be lucky to receive good service from them. I am writing down my honest opinion and the choice to shop at their website or not after reading my comments will still be yours. It could just be me being fussy and unreasonable. Or, they might take actual purchase more seriously than a sponsorship. I have dealt with a number of prominent sponsors and this is by far the worst and one of the more popular brand I thought would be fantastic to work with.
