Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendul

Here's the last of my Penang trip!

I hope you are not bored yet because I haven't tell you about the famous Teochew Cendul hidden humbly in Penang Road and the perpetually out-of-stock My Kuali Penang White Curry instant noodles!

It was all windy that morning. In fact, the weather was breezy throughout our 3 days trip :)

We got our car parked at a really narrow parking lot at the opposite and walked across the road to this Chendul Stall situated in a small lane beside Penang Road. We went around Penang Road looking for this stall until Elene spotted the crowd in a lane next to Penang Road. It was either Elene's eyes were sharp or the crowd was too visible to be overlooked.

The stall was ran by the friendly Tan brothers. A man, which I believe was one of the Tan brothers, was busy scooping from different containers into bowls for his customers.

Pandan Jelly Noodles were firm in every bite. I love this rich with ingredients and nicely fragrant with fresh coconut milk and Gula Melaka. I am a fan of desserts but not the sugar water that carries the content. The proportion of pandan jelly noodles, shaved ice and red beans contained in each bowl was just right. The better word to describe this tiny bowl of dessert is, condensed or in Malaysian languange we called it 'gao'.

You can either have your Cendul at the sidewalk or a small coffee shop named Joo Hooi next to the stall.

Seats were really small reminded me of the char chaan theng in Hong Kong. To avoid 'elbowing' my friend who were busy gobbling on the food next to me, I have to squeeze myself a little to get this shot.

Having the cendul here has a price to pay! We were being charged RM0.50 each person for bringing the cendul into the coffee shop despite we wanted to avoid the extra charges by ordering the coffee shop's drinks. In other word, you and/or your friends will be charged RM0.50 each no matter you have ordered their drinks or not.

We managed to get some of these before our departure.

I was quite reluctant to buy any because the mini markets at the roadside were selling MyKuali Penang White Curry Noodles at RM9 for 4 packs instead of the normal RM6.80 priced by the hypermarket! But since everyone was saying how good these were I have decided to go home with at least one pack.

After having the first bowl I regretted not bringing home more!
The curry was as thick and taste as closed to Hot Bowl White Curry in Ibu Siti Lane!
